International Females in Tech Day – UX/UI Design Training- BootCamp

Annually across the globe, International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday
in April to stress the importance of girls in I.C.T. and encourage more girls and young women
to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. This year, it
takes place on April 27.
For girls and young women to thrive in (STEM) careers, they need to acquire skills to become
both ICT users and creators in the digital world. It is for this reason that the global theme for
Girls in ICT Day 2023 has been declared “Digital Skills for life”.
Last year, we hosted for the first time a series of tech related training and conversations in Turks
and Caicos as part of International Girls in ICT Day. In collaboration with the Edward Gartland
Youth Centre, we trained 21 girls between ages 13-19 in coding. This was conducted by Twitter’s
Developer in Residence based in Switzerland, Jan-Ni-ka John. A virtual lunch was held with the
participants and female developers across North America, and our first National Conversation
on Sun, Sand and Tech were held over a two-day period.
The proposed activities for 2023 are outlined below.
